2017 Examples of Excelencia Examples in Excelencia is a means on an annual basis to bet on ourselves. To put the word out that there are good things in higher education that are to be found and celebrated. Sarita E. Brown, President, Excelencia in Education Through Examples of Excelencia, Excelencia in Education recognizes programs that accelerate Latino student success in four categories: the Associate, Baccalaureate, Graduate levels as well as Community-Based Organizations (CBOs). In 2017 we received over 160 nominations from 25 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico and recognized 19 finalists. An external selection committee then selected four programs, one program per category, as the 2017 Examples of Excelencia.
